Do you have to 'deliberately' put a lot of effort in keeping the coat for her or she has inherited the good genes from her prestigious bloodlines? It's often said that the warm and humid climate of Hong Kong fails to provide conditions conducive to coat development, but you appear to be very successful in keeping your cats in their prime condition! That's the combination of both..............

In fact, she used to be rather light (around 8 - 8.5 pounds) for a very long time. Her breeder is not too renowned of producing very fluffy NFC, especially during kittenhood (http://jostedalsbreen.de/start_neu1.htm) and indeed it has taken me three and a half years to witness her full blossom..............

If I took ANY other cats other than Heavenly from this German breeder I would have gone NOWHERE...........it ought to be Heavenly from her and fate had me having her...........all other cats from Ilona, the way I see it, would not be able to have any advantage in CFA shows considering they are just too FIFe extreme...........

Heavenly is now 11 pounds + (5 kg) at 3 years and 10 months and her coat does look better than many native NFCs living in Europe.......part of the reason does come from her line, but back in her kittenhood and as a very young adult she looked like "a bird"..........although typewise I have nothing to complaint but it was not the most competitive time for her to compete that young..........

And of course the other reason is the weather, being such a cold winter this year it does contribute to her coat development, and then it's the very special supplements I've been feeding her that have worked really well, and beaten all the supplements I had used in the past by a big margin..........Heavenly was already in very prime condition during the Malaysian and HKCLS show back in November and December 2007 and I could never imagine there's such a thing which could further boost up her condition by a big step...............

And at last, it's experience + hardwork + heart + knowledge + courage.............I guess

and one more point...........I treat Heavenly more or less like a Persian now and sometimes I have to put a napkin around her neck to prevent her from messing around her ruff...........and groom / comb her some 3 - 5 times daily...........

Now that I've become a breeder myself, I understand what you said completely! It's just not an easy task to be a professional breeder at all! This job may be even more challenging than our full-time jobs.

This is what outsiders or backyard breeders will never comprehend.

Very understandable. Messing up the stunning coat of a beautiful cat would be equal to a 'sin' to me as well! But I do admire your perserverance. Not many breeders have the heart to spend so much of their time on their cats.....I believe your effort will be paid off. (Hee...actually, you're already paid off - that beautiful ruff!)

Yep...that's right. Otherwise it's impossible to keep every show cat at their prime condition. 24 hours a day is far from enough for a breeder.....
